All classes at Bridgemere School from Nursery to Year 6 have two hours of PE each week. The teaching staff have been supported by a qualified coach from an external agency, The Sports Coaching Group. This has been funded through our Sports Grant and has given the teaching staff the expertise, knowledge and skills to deliver high quality PE from September 2021, for all children.
Throughout the school day, the teachers encourage the children to be as active as possible. We encourage children to take part in the extra-curricular clubs delivered by The Sports Coaching group after school. We also support and celebrate the pupils' achievements during out of school sports groups such as swimming or dance.
We take part in several inter-school competitions each year, provided by the Crewe and Nantwich School Sport Partnership, ending in the very exciting annual Town Sports, which we came 3rd in Group B in 2019 and 1st in Group C in 2018 which is a fantastic achievement for a small school.
Unfortunately, due to restrictions and the pandemic, children have not had the opportunity to partake in competitions out of school. However, they have competed internally within the school and also taken part in virtual competitions where they placed 12th out of over 30 schools.
Our own sports day takes place in the summer term where children from Nursery to Year 6 compete in their house teams for the Bridgemere CofE Primary School sports day cup.
Please read the information below which gives details of how we spend the PE and Sport Premium for Primary Schools and the swimming requirements for Year 6.
