EYFS

Welcome to our EYFS Curriculum Page.
Class One is a Nursery/ Reception mixed class. Children can start after their 3rd birthday.
The mixed age group supports children starting Nursery and the smooth transition into Reception.

We use Development Matters to support the EYFS Curriculum.

We know that learning starts in EYFS. All progression maps throughout school build on from the skills the children develop in the EYFS.

We are really excited to be improving our classroom, providing opportunities for children to challenge themselves and extend their thinking.
Our new and improved outdoor area provides much needed space to explore the world around them.

We pride ourselves on giving children the best start to their journey through Bridgemere School.

We develop the children Personal Social and Emotionalwellbeing through the use of Circe Time, using an array of PSHE resources including No Outsiders and Christopher Winters.

We support Communication and Language using Word Aware to enhance vocabulary.

We grow our Physical Developmentthrough Dough Disco, Finger Gym, Active 15, PE and taking risks in the outdoor area. We teach the children how to hold a pencil correctly to write well formed letters through a variety of play based activities, from writing with sticks, dance ribbons and chalk.

We use Read Write Inc to teach phonics, which provides the best start to Reading. In Literacy, we provide lots of Writing opportunities through the Read to Write program.

In Maths we use White Rose Maths program to develop a strong understanding of number.

We explore Expressive Arts and Design, using a variety of mixed media. The class have access to a range of art supplies to explore and a junk modelling area to expand on their design skills, as well as a playdough table to flourish their creativity. The role play area extends their imaginative thinking. We use Music for Life program of study to teach music.

We learnt about the world around us in Understanding the World. This is the starting blocks for Science, History and Geography.

Class One is an exciting place to be, filled with fun and learning.
