Yesterday was World Book Day and rather than the children coming in fancy dress it was decided this year that we would replenish our beloved school library with new, exciting books. Parents were asked this year if they could bring a book to school for their child to donate to the school library.
The children and staff at school spent the morning celebrating the day by participating in various activities. The children had the opportunity to work with those in their school houses. During the morning the children read and looked at a variety of different books. The children worked in small groups discussing what made those books appealing and why they enjoyed reading them. The children loved talking about their favourite books and authors. The children then began creating a book review that would entice other children to choose that book to read. The children were then set the challenge of creating an informative poster about their chosen books. These posters were then judged (which was a very difficult decision) and winners were selected. All of the posters that were produced were fantastic and the children really showed off their imagination and creativity. Well done to everybody.
The winners were: George B, Olivia, Florence, Freddie, Sienna, Ella W, Anna and Oliver P.
Have a look at the pictures below of the children's work.
Finally a big thank you to all of those parents and children that donated books to school. The library is now in the process of being sorted out so that we have room for all of our fantastic new books so that they can be enjoyed by all.
