Class 2

Welcome to Class 2

The home of Year 1 and Year 2... and Miss Latham

A little insight into me... Miss Latham

As you all know, I'm new here at Bridgemere, however, over the past two years I've taught at Acton who we will soon be joining in the Real Life Learning Academy trust along with Calveley. This means I have worked alongside the teachers here already and I'm very excited to now be part of the Bridgemere team. My role here in Bridgemere is to teach Class 2, across the academy I also have responsibility for our Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs) which means sometimes I may be visiting our other schools for meetings and observations.

Before arriving at Bridgemere, as before, I was at Acton where I taught Year 1 for two years. Life before the Academy was four years spent at a school in Crewe. I'll  be completing my 7th year of teaching here at Bridgemere this year.

Outside of school I spend whatever spare time I have playing hockey and netball. Sometimes I find myself helping out at the family farm where I grew up and most weekends I'll be catching up and spending time with my parents and two sisters.

Our Learning is class

This term we will be looking at Bridgemere in our topic @Where in the world is Bridgemere?' This will allow the children (and myself) to learn more about the world around us.

Maths will focus on numbers, addition and subtraction. We will look at tens and ones of two digit numbers, ordering and comparing.

English will allow us to delve into our book 'The Night Gardener' where we will confidently learn to use nouns, adjectives and sentence structure which we will use to write descriptions, diaries and letters.

Our phonics has changed slightly as we move into using Read, Write Inc, so please don't be surprised if the children come home saying 'you huge brute', 'poo at the zoo' or 'eeeaaaa cup of tea' these are all used throughout the scheme to help the children to remember the sounds.

I'm very much looking forward to teaching your children and encouraging them to be their best to their full potential.
