Class 1

Welcome to Class 1.

September 2019   A new school year!

Class 1 is taught by Mrs Lock on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Middleton on Thursday and Friday.

Our first topic is 'All about me !'.

We will be finding out about our families and our homes. We will be finding out about our bodies, our senses and all the wonderful things our bodies can do.

Last year's learning

During the second half of the summer term, Mrs Connor taught in Class 1  as we waited for news of Mrs Willington's baby!

The children learned about 'Food', using stories the Gingerbread Man and Handa's Surprise to start their learning.

During the first summer half term we found out about New Life. We loved learning all about plants, animals and humans.

We really enjoyed our trip to Mill Dale. We went pond dipping and went on a mini-beast hunt. We searched for the orienteering clues using the site map.

The role play changed into a baby clinic, ready for the arrival of Baby Willington.

We love playing in the mud kitchen

The class all made Rapunzel wigs to wear. They came to the salon for a trim.

Look at these amazing ideas the class made in their STEM challenge.
Last week we made number lines 1-10 and counted how many fingers we have. We have been working on the formation of numbers.

The children have enjoyed using the Tinkering Table and the Cutting Station. These activities improve fine motor control using both small construction pieces, such as screws and bolts or scissors at the Cutting Station.

Any resources you have at home, such as construction pieces or ribbon would be greatly appreciated.
